Adidas SuperStar Trainers & Shoes The Adidas Superstar Trainer was first introduced in the early 70s as a basketball trainer. Within a very short period the Adidas Shelltoe was worn by 75% of all professional basketball players. With Basketball being a popular game with the kids on the street it was inevitable that the Superstar was set to become an iconic trainer.
In 1983 the Adi Superstars were adopted by hip hop artists Run DMC who used to wear them without laces. Adidas was reputed to have sponsored Run DMC for one million dollars. In 1986 the group recorded a song dedicated to the Adidas Shelltoe titles 'My Adidas' in the same year a clothing line was introduced.
After 39 years the Adidas Superstar is still one of the best selling Adidas Trainers of all time, available in a multitude of colours and finishes.
